The professorships are positioned at the Faculty of Technology in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, in the unit of Mechanical Engineering. We are aiming for a start date during the fall 2024 but we are flexible.

We are looking for experts for three different positions in the areas of mechanical and automation engineering: two (2) professorships in Digital Design and one (1) professorship in Industrial Automation.

For the first position in Digital Design, candidates are expected to have teaching and research experience in one or more of: design data management (CAD/CAE, PLM/PDM, ERP), digital twins, and the design of complex investments (e.g. ships or process plants) and the efficient use of design data throughout the investment lifecycle. Knowledge beyond traditional design disciplines and expertise in artificial intelligence and Industry 4.0 are considered an asset, as well as experience in the marine or process industries.

For the second position in Digital Design, candidates are expected to have teaching and research experience in one or more of: CAD/CAE systems, structural mechanics, shape and structure simulation, topology optimization and design automation. Knowledge of materials, their properties and processing or artificial intelligence will be an advantage.

For the Industrial Automation position, candidates are expected to have teaching and research experience in industrial automation systems, components and sensors. Knowledge of ERP/PDM/PLM/MES systems, hydraulics, pneumatics and the use of artificial intelligence in automation solutions are an advantage.

We consider applicants’ merits broadly and value, for example, broad academic, professional, and societal networks; societal impact and outreach activities; experience in technology transfer; industrial and entrepreneurial experience; and multidisciplinary collaboration. In all positions, we require an active approach and genuine enthusiasm for teaching and developing education. We value teaching experience as well as pedagogical training.

Based on the applicant's previous evidence, the position will be filled as an Assistant or Associate Professor, tenure track position or a permanent professor position (Full Professor).
