2 PhD (4 years) and 1 postdoc (1 years) positions are available in Professor Chan Cao’s group in the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Geneva, Switzerland.
The research group is focused on developing novel nano-biotechnologies, with a particular emphasis on nanopores. Nanopores have been successfully applied in sequencing long fragments of DNA and have the potential to revolutionize proteomics, providing high sensitivity for the detection of low-abundance proteins and high specificity in mixtures. As a technique, nanopore measurement is portable, cheap, fast, and allows the characterization of molecules with sub-angstrom resolution without the need for additional labels/amplification in aqueous solution.
The main goal of the group is to push the limits of nanopore technology and extend its application as an analytical tool. In this position, you will join a dynamic team of analytical chemists, biophysicists, biochemists, and computational & structure biologists.
