Your Responsibilities

  • Research and publication activities as well as knowledge dissemination and transfer, public engagement and participation in activities of societal relevance in the research area “Translation, Migration, Minorities”
  • Participation in the establishment of a trans- and interdisciplinary research group on “Multilingual Communication and Translation in Spaces of Crisis and Disaster” in the research area “Translation, Migration, Minorities”
  • Opportunity to write a postdoctoral thesis (habilitation) related to the above-mentioned research focus
  • Contribution to the development of new methods and formats for participatory, collaborative, and engaged translation research in migration contexts
  • Participation in the integration of inter- and transdisciplinary research with practice-oriented teaching, especially in interpreter training
  • Participation in applying for funding for research projects and administrative assistance in carrying out such projects
  • Participation in and co-organization of workshops, symposia, and conferences
  • Independent teaching of courses and administration of examinations in the Bachelor’s programme “Multilingualism, translation and digital communication” as well as in the Master’s programme “Translation Studies”, particularly in the areas of translation, multilingualism, and migration, with a special focus on interpreting.
  • Providing academic guidance and support to students (including supervision of BA-theses and if required, supervision of Master’s theses)
  • Participation in organizational and administrative tasks as well as in evaluation measures of the Department

Your Profile

  • Doctorate/PhD in Translation Studies and/or Interpreting Studies and/or in other relevant disciplines (with a dissertation on a topic relevant to the teaching and research tasks)
  • Excellent knowledge of theories and approaches in Translation Studies and good knowledge of theories and research methods in the social sciences
  • Engagement with theoretical and methodological questions in the areas of pedagogy, politics, and/or ethics of translation, demonstrated through project work and/or publications
  • Experience in teaching in Translation and/or Interpreting Studies as well as in teaching interpreting practice (including online teaching) and an interest in developing innovative teaching formats
  • International experience in research, teaching, and publication activities
  • Experience in organizing academic events
  • Very good command of German and English, as well as proficiency in another, preferably non-European, language
  • Very good IT-Skills
  • Enthusiasm for research and teaching, as well as for supervising students
  • Intercultural competence
  • Strong communication, organizational, and especially teamwork skills
  • Commitment, initiative, and proactive approach
  • Reliability, resilience, and flexibility

We offer an annual gross salary of at least € 70.200,20 for a fulltime position. An overpayment based on qualification and experience is possible.
