About CBS:

The Chemical & Biochemical Sciences Green Process Engineering Department (CBS) is a component of the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P). The main objective of CBS is to set up a distinctive research-teaching program, of international level, to meet the research and teaching challenges of UM6P, in particular on green and environmental chemistry applied to all aspects of chemical sciences: organic and inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, chemical biology, biochemical and thermal reactions.

Research at CBS is organized around several major areas, which aim to answer challenging industrial questions, from complex chemical and biochemical reactions to scale-up and validation of process engineering. CBS projects aim at an in-depth understanding of the molecular mechanisms of all transformations in order to propose new original alternatives in terms of efficiency, environmental friendliness and sustainability.

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher in Process/Chemical Engineering to contribute to advanced research in experimentation, modeling, simulation, and optimization of chemical processes.

The successful candidate will work on the development of advanced process models combining experimental investigations with computational tools, with the objective of improving process understanding, efficiency, and sustainability in chemical and industrial processes. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research at the interface between experimentation, process systems engineering, and industrial process optimization.

Research Topics

The postdoctoral project may include several of the following aspects:

  • Design and execution of laboratory and pilot-scale experiments for chemical processes
  • Development of phenomenological, thermodynamic, and kinetic models for complex reactive systems
  • Integration of experimental datasets with modeling and simulation frameworks
  • Dynamic simulation and digital twins for industrial chemical processes
  • Process optimization and model-based decision support tools
  • Development of computational tools for process monitoring and predictive analysis

Candidate Criteria 

Applicants should have:

  • A PhD in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field
  • Strong expertise in process modeling, simulation, and systems analysis
  • Experience with experimental work in chemical or process engineering (desirable)
  • Knowledge of process optimization, parameter estimation, or control methods is a plus
  • Programming experience in MATLAB and/or Python
  • Familiarity with process simulation software such as Aspen Plus or Aspen HYSYS
