Job description

The energy system is undergoing a fundamental transformation driven by the rapid integration of renewable energy, electric vehicles and large-scale AI data centers. Power electronic converters play a pivotal role in enabling this transition, while also introducing new challenges related to system dynamics, stability, and control.

This project focuses on the development of modeling, stability analysis, control, and hardware solutions for converter-dominated power systems. Application areas include next-generation megawatt charging infrastructure for heavy-duty electric vehicles and power electronic systems supporting AI data centers. The project is funded by EU Clean Energy Transition Partnership and Swedish Energy Agency. The recruited researcher will join the Division of Electric Power and Energy Systems at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, working closely with world-leading power electronic groups in University of Padova, Aalborg University, Chalmers University of Technology , and with a set of industrial partners, i.e., Hitachi Energy and Energiforsk, the system operators Svenska kraftnät, Volvo Energy.

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree 
  • PhD degree in Electrical Power Engineering
  • This project focuses on the development of modeling, stability analysis, control strategies, and hardware solutions for converter-dominated power systems.
  • Knowledge of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality
  • Ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Ability to work independently

Preferred qualifications

  • Strong publication records in top IEEE Transactions.
  • Strong self-motivation in research 

Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.
