Postdoctoral researcher in advanced acoustofluidic 3D cell culture

Job description

The position is part of a research project aimed at developing advanced 3D cell culture systems and methods for applications in cancer research.

The postdoctoral researcher will primarily work on using a recently developed 3D cell culture method based on acoustofluidics for the generation and study of complex in vitro tumor models and the tumor microenvironment.

The responsibilities include, among other things:

• developing and applying experimental protocols for optimizing the quality and relevance of in vitro tumor models from a variety of different cell lines as well as from primary materials,
• compare the acoustofluidic method in terms of throughput and quality with alternative and established 3D cell culture methods,
• develop 3D microscopy-based analysis methods for the continuous monitoring of maturing 3D cell cultures at the cellular and sub-cellular scale,
• contributing to the development of automated and scalable analysis pipelines for experimental data,
• collaborating with researchers in biophysics, microfluidics, and cell biology,
• documenting and communicating research findings through scientific publications and presentations,
• contribute to grant proposals. 

The postdoctoral researcher is expected to work independently and to actively contribute to the group’s collective work and interdisciplinary collaborations.

Qualifications

Requirements

• A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
• Documented experience in 3D cell culture and microscopy.
• Strong ability to communicate scientific results orally and in writing in English as we work in an international environment.
• Experience working in research-oriented laboratories with advanced biomolecular and cellular analyses.

Preferred qualifications

• A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
• Experience in acoustofluidics technology.
• Experience of working in interdisciplinary research environments.
• Supervision skills

About the employment
