Do you want to contribute to better health for all?

The Division of Occupational Therapy is a dynamic and creative educational and research environment, located at Campus Flemingsberg in southern Stockholm. We are looking for a professor who has demonstrated a strong track record in occupational therapy, occupational science and pedagogic scholarship, and who can contribute to, engage in and further develop occupational therapy, occupational science and education at Karolinska Institutet.

At the Division of Occupational Therapy, our vision is to contribute decisively to improving people's health through research, education and interprofessional cooperation with a scientific basis in occupational therapy and occupational science.

Education is conducted at basic level (occupational therapy program), advanced level (master in occupational therapy), and freestanding and elective courses and at postgraduate level. The Division has about 50 employees, about 10 registered doctoral students and includes three research groups with interdisciplinary research in occupational therapy.

Description of the subject area

Occupational therapy is the main subject area within one of Karolinska Institutet’s educational programs at basic level, the Occupational Therapy Program and in courses offered at advanced level within the subject area. The scientific discipline of occupational therapy is based on theory and practice about human activities that create commitment and change on an individual as well as a group and system level. The subject develops knowledge about human activities and how these can be used in everyday activities and occupational therapy. Through education and research in occupational therapy and occupational science, equity in health and social change can come about.

Your mission

We are seeking a candidate with an internationally leading research profile in occupational therapy and occupational science, as well as experience in both leading educational activities and conducting pedagogical development work.

The Division of Occupational Therapy offers a stimulating and creative working environment. Together with dedicated colleagues, you will, as a professor, conduct research and provide education of the highest quality. As a professor, you will lead a research group expected to carry out internationally leading research in occupational therapy and occupational science.

The duties include teaching and examination in courses within the Occupational Therapist Programme, within the main field of occupational therapy. The role also involves responsibility for integrating research into the education, representing the main field, and further developing collaboration with clinical practice. Teaching and examination at advanced level may also be included in the duties, as well as teaching in doctoral-level courses.
