About the Department
Ashesi’s Business Administration Department teaches and equips students with the skills, ethics, and entrepreneurial mindset to lead and innovate in Africa’s fast-changing economy. Through a rigorous curriculum blending leadership, technology, and liberal arts, students learn to build sustainable enterprises, drive impact across sectors, and solve real-world challenges.
The Department delivers a comprehensive understanding of business principles and practices, preparing students for leadership roles in various sectors. Emphasizes is laid on the fundamentals of business while integrating new trends and technological advances that are transforming the global economy. The department ensures that its graduates are well-versed in both theoretical and practical aspects of business management.
About the Role
This is a fixed-term adjunct appointment in the Entrepreneurship cluster, designed to retain practitioner-track teaching capacity as the cluster grows its full-time faculty complement. The postholder will teach up to two courses per academic year in applied entrepreneurship, focusing on areas where active practitioner knowledge adds distinctive value — such as venture financing, startup operations, social enterprise management, or ecosystem navigation. This role is not intended to cover structural teaching gaps but to enrich the curriculum with current, practice-grounded expertise that complements the research orientation of full-time faculty.
Key responsibilities
Teach up to two designated Entrepreneurship courses per academic year, as agreed with the cluster lead and Head of Department.
Bring current practitioner knowledge and real-world case material into course design and delivery.
Assess student work and provide timely, substantive feedback in accordance with departmental standards.
Participate in cluster meetings relevant to assigned courses and contribute to end-of-semester reviews.
Maintain appropriate student consultation hours and respond to student queries within agreed timelines.
Qualifications and experience
A minimum of a Master’s degree (MBA, MSc, or equivalent) in Entrepreneurship, Design Thinking, Business Administration, Innovation, or a related field. A PhD or professional doctorate is an advantage but not required. Candidates will be assessed primarily on the depth and relevance of their practitioner experience alongside their academic credentials.
Equivalent of Senior Lecturer standing, demonstrated through professional seniority, business leadership experience, and any prior teaching record.
Significant practitioner experience in entrepreneurship and/or design thinking — as a founder, investor, ecosystem builder, accelerator lead, design thinking facilitator, innovation programme lead, or senior advisor to ventures — at a level that brings credible, current insight to the classroom. Candidates with deep design thinking practice (e.g. human-centred design, design sprints, innovation labs) are particularly encouraged to apply, given the cluster’s FDE co-teaching responsibilities.
Prior teaching or facilitation experience at a university or executive education level is required.
Experience operating in the Ghanaian or West African business and startup ecosystem is strongly preferred.
