Über den Arbeitgeber

The aim of the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics is to understand information processing in the brains of humans and animals. We use experimental, theoretical and computational methods to elucidate the characteristics and implementations of the cascades of plastic and recurrent interactions that transform sensory data into perceptions, memories, appropriate choices of actions, and motor output.

Three buildings belong to the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics. The institute is devided into several scientific departments and research groups. Different research facilities and labs, a press office, a fine mechanical, an electronical workshop and animal facilities are part of the institutes infrastructure.

The institute currently employs more than 200 people, 46 of whom are technical personnel, and a further 26 work in administration, building services and workshops. Approximately 65 % of the staff are scientists.

The MPI for Biological Cybernetics shares several facilities with its neighboring Max Planck Institutes. Such as the EU regional office, the IT service, the library, the lecture hall, the Max Planck Guest house and Cafeteria. There is also a nursery on campus.
