The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Basel and the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) invites applications for a professorship to establish a new research focus on "Urban Public Health"
This new research focus with international standing will apply innovative, translational and implementation-oriented methodologies to deepen the understanding and promotion of human health and well-being in indoor and outdoor contexts in different low-, middle- and high-income regions and countries. The professorship brings its expertise into teaching, postgraduate training, and epidemiological consulting. You are involved in relevant university, national and international committees.
You have a PhD or comparable educational degree. You have several years of experience as independent researcher with internationally recognized research achievements related to Urban Public Health in the context of architecture and spatial/urban planning
. You have a track record of successful acquisition of competitive third-party funding. When developing the research focus, you have an interest in obtaining real-life data and a proven competence in Big Data analysis.
You have an inclusive personality with strong organizational and communication skills. You are team oriented and enthusiastic about responsible, innovative and science-oriented leadership. You are interested in a broad collaboration with stakeholders in architecture, urban, spatial and health system planning to successfully translate research results into practice. You are willing to integrate yourself into the local context and to adapt to its cultural and linguistic customs.
The professorship will have access to broad local, national and global partnership networks and expertise. The professorship will be anchored at Swiss TPH in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health. Swiss TPH is a leading institution in the field of global health.
