YOUR FUTURE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working on research projects in close collaboration with industrial/academic partners focusing on power electronics for various applications.
  • Depending on your knowledge, experience and interest, part of following research activities can be expected:
    • Analysis of state-of-the-art technologies and solutions, identifying future trends.
    • Working on new project ideas and preparing project proposals for cooperative industry projects or to apply within funding calls.
    • Analysis of system requirements and definition of specifications.
    • Converter system design according to given requirements and specifications.
    • Converter topology analysis and comparison based on calculation & simulation.
    • Control system design and simulation for power converters.
    • Converter hardware design and implementation (layout design, CAD design, etc.).
    • High frequency magnetic components design & optimization and simulation.
    • Thermal design and simulation of cooling system for power converters.
    • Commissioning, test and measurement of converter prototypes.
    • Documentation of research outcomes and publications in world-wide leading conferences and journals.
    • Participating conferences/tutorials/workshops and giving scientific talk representing SAL power electronics.
    • Supervising interns/students.

YOUR PROFILE

  • PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or Computer science.
  • Fundamental knowledge and solid background in power electronics (converter topologies, control, design principle, etc.).
  • Proven track record of previous project experiences with focus on power electronics and relevant applications.
  • Proficiency of Matlab/Simulink and at least one power electronic circuit simulation tools (e.g., PLECS, LTspice).
  • Following skills are preferred:
    • Programming skills in Python, C/C++.
    • Experiences of microcontroller programing (DSP, FPGA).
    • Experiences of HIL test system.
    • Proficiency of FEM simulation tools, e.g., Anysis, COMSOL.
    • Proficiency of PCB design tools, e.g., Altium Designer.
    • Experiences with CAD design tools, e.g., Solidworks, Inventor.
    • Hands/on laboratory skills for power electronic converter prototyping and test.
  • Experiences of publications in leading conferences and journals.
  • Highly enthusiastic and motivated for research activities and cutting-edge technologies for power electronics. Willing to learn new technologies and think outside of the box.
  • Self-organized, innovative and target-oriented working style, ready to take technical challenges and new responsibilities.
  • Good communications skills and teamwork spirit.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

This position is subject to the Collective Agreement for employees in non-university research (Research CA) starting in occupational group E (E3 salary = EUR 3.538, paid 14 times a year) based on 38,5 hours per week). For this position we offer competitive salaries and additional benefits based on your experience and qualifications, starting with a minimum salary of EUR 56.000 (annual, based on an All-in contract and bonus).
