Overview

Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS) was established in 1978 as part of an Arab resolution to form the first Arab university specialized in graduate studies, research, and training in security sciences. Since then, the university has played a key role as the scientific body of the Arab Interior Ministers Council (AIMC). As a regional organization, the university holds observer member status in many regional and international organizations’ councils, such as UNODC and INTERPOL.

The vision of NAUSS is to be the premier institution in educating the next generation of Arab experts and leaders in security sciences. To achieve this vision, the university has recently announced its new strategy 2019-2023, where many initiatives have been launched. These initiatives include establishing many centers of excellence in areas such as Cybercrimes and Digital Investigation. Located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the university currently offers graduate programs in many areas such as Criminal Justice, Criminology, Counterterrorism, Nuclear Security, and Financial Integrity.

Position Title Director of Security Research Center

Duties

• Promoting and facilitating leading-edge security research, including collaborative and interdisciplinary research, in areas related to the goals of the university.
• Developing networks between the research center and researchers in the security field.
• Acting as the connections between NAUSS and the international community and the Arab Interior Ministers council with respect to research initiatives of mutual benefit.
• Transferring knowledge to society through outreach (e.g. collaborative research; seminars; workshops; lectures; websites; publications).
• Building, and providing sufficient support for, a community of innovative researchers to enhance research capacity in security sciences field at the university and to increase internal and external research opportunities for faculty, and graduate students.
• Administer the day-to-day activities of the Security Research Centre.
• Identify and promote research funding opportunities as directed.
• leading strategic planning for the research center to ensure that the center’s objectives are aligned with the university’s Strategic Plan objectives;
• Overseeing the proper discharge of administrative duties of the research center including supervising personnel, financial management, and operations.
• Managing the research plan effectively and efficiently, ensuring that accepted standards of research and ethical behavior are met.
• Managing the space needs of the research center in cooperation with appropriate university authorities.

Education

Experience & Skills

• PhD Degree from an accredited institution in relevant academic discipline in Security Sciences, Criminology, or Sociology fields.
• A minimum of  (5) years’ experience as a member of a research center.
• A record of research and scholarship including publications in peer-reviewed journals.
• Ability to advice, instructs, manage, motivate, and evaluate team members.
