Presentation of the scientific field
In the context of the ecological and energy crisis, many technological and organizational solutions are being considered to reduce energy use and the environmental impact of companies' value chains. This ecological and societal transition implies, for example, the design of disassembly systems, the integration of reverse flows and recycled materials, new distribution schemes using less polluting vehicles, the selection of closer or greener suppliers, the optimization of the production system by minimizing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, the implementation and planning of reconfigurable manufacturing systems, etc.
The contributions of operations research and industrial engineering models and algorithms in this context are multiple: optimization of the use of existing resources, optimization of the integration of new technologies and new modes of production and transport. With the aim of designing decision support tools better adapted to environmental issues, IMT Atlantique wishes to strengthen its skills in the use of sustainability criteria for the optimization of production systems and supply chains.
This position is fully in line with the theme of the industry of the future of the institution, at the heart of national and European issues.
Ecosystem and position context
IMT Atlantique, internationally recognized for the quality of its research, is a leading French engineering school (Technological University) under the supervision of the Ministry of Industry and Digital Technology, ranked in the three main international rankings (THE, SHANGHAI, QS).
IMT Atlantique has privileged relationships with major national and international industrial partners, as well as with a dense network of SMEs, start-ups and innovation networks. With 290 permanent professors, 2000 students including 300 PhD students, IMT Atlantique produces 1000 publications each year and raises 18M€ in research funds.
The position is located on the Nantes campus within the Automation, Production and Computer Science Department, the modelis team of the Laboratory of Digital Sciences of Nantes (LS2N, UMR CNRS 6004). The modelis team designs optimization and decision support models and algorithms with numerous applications in production systems, logistics and transportation, as well as health care and human services. Many research results of the team were awarded internationally. The team coordinates or participates in several European and French National Research Agency (ANR) project.
Teaching
The education program of IMT Atlantique has been recognized as amongst the most innovative in French High Education and Research and offers large possibilities of developing innovative engineering curriculum and educational approach.
The candidate will contribute to the teaching “Industrial Engineering and Operational Research”. They will be invited to propose related new educational projects, programs and methodologies, inspired by advances in science and supported by industrial requirements and partnerships.
The position aims at strengthening and developing the international MOST (Management and Optimization of Supply chain and Transport) master program. The appointed person will be the head of the program. The recruited person will also teach in the apprenticeship engineering programme on digital transition. He will participate to the supervision of student projects and internships.
