ABOUT THE CIRCATEX PROJECT
The Circatex project is funded by the Belgian state and is part of the research programme ‘Belgium Builds Back Circular’. The project aims to develop a sustainable surface treatment of stainless steel to develop a durable non-stick coating as an alternative to the PFAS-based coatings currently in use.
The research consortium consists of the research centre Sirris, the company Demeyere (manufacturer of stainless steel cookware) and UGent. 
UGent's role in this project is to investigate the attachment of proteins to the heated surfaces and to map the mechanisms responsible for this. A method also needs to be developed to monitor this adhesion quantitatively. 
The research is part of the long-term research of the research group concerned into protein chemistry. 

YOUR ASSIGNMENT
You are responsible for the follow-up of the project within UGent and are responsible for first-line communication with the other project implementers. You implement of the research programme, which you help to shape on the basis of the insights obtained. You prepare project meetings, present and interpret the research results for the research consortium, take care of scientific reporting to the Belgian State and the wider scientific community. 

YOUR PROFILE

  • You obtained a master degree in a relevant field of science (for instance, but not limited to MSc. Food Science and Technology, MSc. Bio-engineering, …)
  • You have a good knowledge of current software packages (MS Office), more specifically in the area of spreadsheets, presentations.
  • You can communicate fluently and clearly both orally and in writing in English. Knowledge of Dutch, French, Spanish and/or German is an advantage.
  • You are able to operate smoothly at the interface between academic institutions, research institutions and industrial partners and this in a multidisciplinary context; as well as with students..
  • You are a team player and are fluent and clear in communication (orally, written).
  • You can work independently in a well-organised manner.
  • You are quality-oriented, conscientious, creative and cooperative. 
  • You are flexible.
  • You know how to set priorities and can make decisions in consultation.
  • You are customer-oriented.

OUR OFFER

  • We offer you a contract of definite duration for the period of 2 Years. 
  • You contract will start on October 1, 2024 at the earliest.
  • Your remuneration will be determined by salary scale WM1 to WM4 depending on your experience.  Click here for more information about our salary scales.
