The Swiss Competence Centers for Energy Research (SCCER) have been established in 2013 as part of the federal Strategic Energy Research program, with the goal of coordinating and expanding the national research activities in support of the Energy Strategy 2050. The eight SCCER cover all relevant aspects of the energy system, i.e. electricity supply, buildings, mobility, electrical grids, and others. The Joint Activity Scenarios & Modelling (JA-S&M) aims at defining possible pathways for our energy future. JA-S&M is establishing a group of modelers, located at the key modelling teams from all eight SCCERs, capable of providing scenarios including the relevant aspects of technology, economy and risks. Researcher in Energy Scenarios & Modelling
You will be responsible for the exchange of data and models between the various research groups and for the creation and maintenance of a website that shall facilitate the communication between the teams and towards the energy research community in Switzerland. You will work directly with the teams to develop and integrate multiple scenarios. You will support the Manager JA-S&M in the supervision of milestones and deliverables and the reporting towards the funding agencies. The position is initially limited to the end of 2020. It may be extended depending of the future evolution of the federal energy research program.
The successful candidate brings in experience in the energy domain either from industry or from academic research, has proven experience in energy system modelling or scenario creation, is capable of connecting the heterogeneous technological elements that form an energy system and is highly motivated to contribute to the future energy strategy of Switzerland. The candidate has excellent knowledge of English and at least one Swiss national language, as well as communication skills and the ability to work with a multi-disciplinary and geographically dispersed team.
