The University of Wuppertal invites applications for a
Professorship in Musicology
(legal basis: W 2 LBesG NRW; § 36 HG NRW).
The position will be based in the department of music pedagogy within the faculty of humanities.
The position is to be taken up by 1st of April, 2022.
We are looking for a personality who represents the compartment of musicology with historical and systematic components in research and teaching in accordance with the basic orientation of the department towards teacher training. One focus of the professorship will be in the field of popular music and digital media culture, another in the field of music of the 20th and 21st century or a field that appropriately complements the respective research activities of the department.
The ability to connect to the fields of work of other professorships of the Faculty of Humanities and Cultural Studies is desirable. Similarly, involvement in the research facilities of the "Centre for Narrative Research" (ZEF) or the "Interdisciplinary Centre for Edition and Document Philology" (IZED) would be welcome.
Besides pedagogical suitability, which has to be proven by appropriate previous experience or, in exceptional cases, demonstrated by excellent performance during the appointment procedure, the applicant is expected to have a particular aptitude for scientific work substantiated by the outstanding quality of a doctorate. Further scientific achievements must be demonstrated additionally and will be evaluated exclusively and comprehensively during the appointment procedure. They include junior professorships, habilitations, employment as a research assistant at a university or at a non-university research institution and scientific positions in business, in administration or another social field in Germany or abroad.
The successful candidate is expected to actively support academic autonomy at the university.
